I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Theft - (shoplifting, personal, other), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. A man has been jailed for four months after admitting to two shopliftings from a store in Netley Abbey.
Dylan James David, of Millbrook Road, Southampton was sentenced when he appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Monday (5 January).
During two thefts from the Co-op on Station Road, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August, the 27-year-old stole £45 worth of items.
Speaking after the outcome at court, Local Bobby, PC Simon Peacock, of Hedge End Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I’m pleased for the store in question, as well as the wider business community here, that David has been held accountable for his actions.
"Retail crime remains one of our local priorities, in addition to all the other work that the team is dealing with on a daily basis.
“This case should once again demonstrate our commitment to seriously tackling shoplifting across the Hedge End area.”
